We will start our walk or trip around Viesite town in the Little Train Park at Brodeles Street 7, where the 7 station buildings can be seen. Talking about railways, you should definitely visit the railway section and water pump located opposite the former station building (now a residential house). The goat sculpture near the Green Market reminds us of the town's earlier name. On the way there, you can visit one of the largest cultural houses in Zemgale – Viesite Cultural House, built in the 1980s. The Cultural House has a concert hall with 450 seats, a cinema with 135 seats, as well as a hall of tradition, dance hall, exhibition hall, rooms for social and hobby groups. In the summer of 2003, during the Days of Heritage, the blue flag of European Cultural Heritage Days was raised at the Viesite Cultural Castle.
Continuing to get to know the historic centre of Viesite, walking along Raiņa Street, you must take a look at the oldest building of the town – the Goat's Pub, built around 1840. Brīvības Street 2 is home to one of the oldest pharmacies in Latvia. It was founded by pharmacist Kārlis Osterhofs in 1884. The pharmacy in the building runs from the day the building was constructed up to the present day, and the old pharmacy equipment is preserved there. Walking or driving along Brīvības Street, you can take a look at Viesite wooden buildings. The next most significant historical object is the Freedom Monument of Viesite, a symbol of freedom, independence and commemoration for the defenders of Viesite against Bermontians in 1919. On the other side of Brīvības Street, on the Vales Hill, there is the Evangelical Lutheran Viesite Freedom Church, the last church designed by architect prof. Pauls Kundziņš in Latvia, built in 1939. If you wish to spend a peaceful time in nature, the Island of Love will be the right place for it. It has been a favourite meeting place for lovers since ancient times, but not everyone knows where the Trees of Love grow. From the Island of Love, walking along the Love Trail, you will reach the Little Lake, where you can see the Health Foot, which contains more than 60 medical plants, the Alley of Mountain Ash in honour of the centenary of Latvia and visit Pauls Stradins School, which is a department of Viesite Museum “Sēlija”.
